ACT Math

Lesson Plan

Permutations

Goals / Objectives

Solve applied ordered-arrangement problems (rankings, codes, seating, officer roles) by applying P(n,r) = n!/(n-r)! to count the arrangements of r items chosen from n, including the r = n case

Explain why order matters in a given arrangement problem and name its n and r

Evaluate factorial expressions, including n!, 0! = 1, and quotients such as n!/(n-r)! by cancellation

Standards

S 405. Exhibit knowledge of simple counting techniques S 603. Apply counting techniques
