Privacy Notice

Last updated 5 October 2026. K12worX is operated by K12worX. Questions, corrections and deletion requests: support@k12worx.com.

This covers K12worX generally; the terms for using it are at /terms. Our tutor trial intake has its own, narrower notice at /try/privacy, which still applies to that flow.

The short version

  • Read every lesson, slide and practice set without an account.
  • Accounts are for people aged 13 or over. We offer none to children under 13.
  • A student answering an exit ticket has no account, is never asked for their name, and cannot type free text about themselves.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we run no advertising.

What we hold

If you are just reading: no account needed. We record which pages are viewed and how visitors arrived, tied to a random identifier in your browser — not to a person — so we can tell whether the materials are useful.

If you have an account: your name, email, the roles you chose (teacher, tutor, parent, student), and a confirmation that you are 13 or over. If you signed in through a school provider, your name and email come from them. We also store the work you do here — classes, assignments, answers and results. A teacher or tutor sees the work of students connected to them; a parent sees their own child’s. No other user does.

We can see it too, and here is what we do with it. The people who run K12worX can see account data. We look at it to keep the service working, to help you when you ask, and to find out what is useful so we can improve it — in totals and trends wherever those answer the question. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we will not name you, your class or your students in public without asking you first.

Some of that work is done with AI tools, which means account data can pass through the AI providers listed under “Who processes data for us”. They handle it for us, on terms that do not let them train their models on it or use it for anything else.

Cookies, named

Nothing in the analytics row below is set until you say yes. A banner asks the first time you visit; accept and decline are equally easy, and neither is chosen for you. You can change your mind any time with the button at the end of this section.

We run no advertising through Google Analytics or otherwise: Google Signals, Google Ads linking and ad personalization are all off, in the analytics settings and in what our code sends.

Sentry, our error-monitoring tool, is not in the table above: it sets no cookie. It is strictly necessary — it is how we notice the site is broken — and is not gated by the choice above.

Exit tickets carry no student identity

Students open a check for understanding with a code — no account, no login, no email — and pick a seat label the teacher typed. A student never types anything about themselves. Seat labels are a teacher’s own note: never joined to a user account, never shown to another teacher, with no student record behind them.

Retention: seat labels are cleared 90 days after a session opens, keeping only the anonymous results. A scheduled job does this every day, and we also delete labels on request at any time.

Automated grading, and what is sent

Most answers are graded against a stored answer key, with no AI involved. Written, free-text answers are different: the question, the model answer and the text the student wrote go to Anthropic’s API to be graded.

⚠️ No name, email or account identifier is included in that request. The answer goes; who wrote it does not.

Who processes data for us

  • Google Firebase — sign-in and accounts.
  • Neon — the database.
  • Vercel — hosting.
  • Anthropic — grading written answers, as described above, and the AI tools we use to support and analyse the service.
  • Amazon SES — email such as invitations and notifications.
  • Google Analytics — usage measurement, only if you accept the cookie banner.
  • Sentry — error monitoring, so we notice when something breaks.
  • Clever and ClassLink — only if you sign in through them.

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

Children, and schools

Accounts require an age confirmation of 13 or over. If a child under 13 has one, tell us at support@k12worx.com and we will delete it. A student taking an exit ticket has no account and gives nothing about themselves, which is why that flow is open to a whole class.

A teacher can use these tools individually, without their school being involved. Where a school or district has an agreement with us, that agreement governs.

⚠️ We make no claim here about FERPA or state student-privacy law, in either direction. That question is open and with counsel; we would rather say so than assert a position we have not confirmed.

Deletion, access and corrections

Email support@k12worx.com and we will delete your account and the work attached to it, send you a copy, or correct it. You do not need a reason.

Changes

If this notice changes materially we will update the date above. K12worX is responsible for what it says.
