F 707. Exhibit knowledge of logarithms
AF 703. Analyze and draw conclusions based on properties of algebra and/or functions

What you'll learn

  1. Expand a single logarithm of a product, quotient, or power into a sum, difference, or multiple, and condense a sum, difference, or multiple of logarithms into a single logarithm, using the product, quotient, and power properties with a common base
  2. Derive each of the three properties from the corresponding exponent law
  3. Identify expressions where no property applies — in particular $\log(x+y)$ and $(\log x)(\log y)$ — and say why
