What you'll learn
- Match the graph of a sine, cosine or tangent function with its equation: read the midline, amplitude, period and phase shift from the graph, and write or select the equation y = A sin(Bx + C) + D (or its cosine equivalent) that fits
- Identify the base graphs of y = sin(x), y = cos(x), and y = tan(x) from their key points (intercepts, maxima, minima, asymptotes), and state each one's period, range and whether it has an amplitude
- Identify amplitude, period, phase shift, and vertical shift from the general form y = A sin(Bx + C) + D and its cosine form, and the period pi/|B| of y = tan(Bx)
- Identify the graph of a transformed sinusoid from its equation by its midline, range, period and the position of a peak or upward midline crossing
