F 706. Use trigonometric concepts and basic identities to solve problems
G 509. Express the sine, cosine, and tangent of an angle in a right triangle as a ratio of given side lengths
What you'll learn
- Define the three reciprocal trigonometric functions and state their relationship to sin, cos, and tan
- Express csc, sec, and cot as ratios of right-triangle sides (hyp/opp, hyp/adj, adj/opp)
- Evaluate csc, sec, and cot for standard angles (30, 45, 60 degrees), rationalizing denominators as needed
- Simplify expressions involving reciprocal trig functions by rewriting them in terms of sine and cosine, including products that are not reciprocal pairs (sin*sec = tan, tan*cos = sin, cot*sin = cos)
- Solve a right-triangle problem that gives or asks for a reciprocal ratio, such as finding a side from a given csc, sec or cot value
