What you'll learn

  1. Calculate the mean and the median of a data set given as a list, a frequency table or a dot plot, for an odd or an even number of values, and interpret each in context
  2. Locate the interval of a histogram that contains the median, using the median's position in the ordered data
  3. Use sum = mean × number of values to find a missing value, the value needed for a target mean, or the mean of two combined groups
  4. Compare two data sets by their means or medians, and identify the mode of a data set
